Transport for Wales is showing that it means business! In an exciting development, the Welsh train operating company has commenced work to breathe new life into Llandudno railway station and secure its future use by a community enterprise.
The Transport for Wales Station Improvement Project identifies unused spaces in stations that can be developed and utilised for community and enterprise purposes. The majestic Victorian station at Llandudno is one of the first to receive these improvements, which will be a great addition for the popular seaside town.
As to the plans for the station, a vacant room at the front of the building will be refurbished to create a space for Creating Enterprise, a not-for-profit organisation that concentrates its efforts towards supporting local people into employment initiatives.
The Conwy Valley Community Rail Partnership will also make its home here, extending its reach to Anglesey and providing access to many more rural communities in Wales for locals and visitors both.
The community rail partnership already cares for the twelve stations that run the length of the Conwy Valley; the historic line covering some twenty-seven miles from Llandudno to Blaenau Ffestiniog. It is set to add another ten stations to its portfolio as it adopts the stations along the West Coast line, from Conwy to Holyhead on Anglesey.
