Experience an immersive journey on the Conwy Valley Line

Have you ever wondered what the stories are behind the view of your window seat? Now you don’t have to, with the new Conwy Valley Line audio guide from the Window Seater App.

About Window Seater

Window Seater connects passengers with the World outside the train window, bringing them geolocated, bilingual, audio stories recounted by local people.

The App is free of charge to download and listen to and is compatible with iPhone and Android. It’s perfect for travellers who love to sit by the window, gazing out at the world as the scenery unfolds.

Each story features a variety of ‘Experiences’ to inspire visitors for their onward travel, supporting the social and economic development of the area.

The Conwy Valley is the second audio guide to be presented to users of the App in Welsh and English, further promoting our region’s culture and identity.

The Conwy Valley Line

Stretching from the coast to the heart of Eryri, the Conwy Valley Line is a unique journey through some of Wales’ most diverse and beautiful landscapes.

Starting in the Victorian seaside town of Llandudno, the route takes you through the medieval town of Conwy with its iconic Castle, to the towering trees of the Gwydir Forest and peaks of the Eryri National Park, before ending your journey in Blaenau Ffestiniog, once at the heart of the Welsh slate industry.

Experience it for yourself

Partnering with Window Seater, and thanks to funding from Transport for Wales, the Conwy Valley and North Wales Coast Community Rail Partnership hopes that the audio guide will enhance passenger journeys.

Developing the audio guide has been an opportunity to harness the history and heritage of the local community, getting beneath the surface of the most famous sights and uncovering the wonders of history, geography, culture and more.

Simply head over to your app store on your mobile device and download the Window Seater App to listen to locals passionately narrate the area’s unique allure, highlighting the line’s distinct charm.

If you’re not able to travel on the Conwy Valley Line, you can still listen to the stories and perhaps reminisce on your previous journeys.
